There are a lot of options both maintenance- and setup-wise. It will open up the reports as you can do very advanced stuff if you want to. I'd recommend reading up on SQL if you're not that well-versed in it. I might need to take a look at setting up dedicated database server. Going past the 15k assets made things a bit sluggish though. Just pop a new scanning server on a VM and you are ready to add a new location, easy as that. Things started off with a small installation in our head office but now we're using it company wide. I tried some alternatives but none really offered the flexibility that I am looking for. I have been using Lansweeper for quite some time now. And the list can be customized to your liking to remove items you don't use. Remote desktop, uninstall software, reboot, shutdown, WOL, etc. The built in actions are very useful but will need some tweaking if you follow least privilege administration since they assume you have admin rights everywhere. When I do any work on a system I always pull up Lansweeper and rescan it to make sure there are not other open issues to be fixed while I am there ensuring I won't have to go back later. I use this feature to quickly see if an asset is missing BIOS updates, application updates (flash, java, etc.), warranty expiration, etc. Custom reports (SQL) can be written and added to the dashboard as warnings. This is a great way to document things and very useful when contractors or temps need to know where things are located. It has a cool asset map feature where you can import floor plan drawings and then place markers for your assets on the pages. Even assets that are not on the network can be added and tracked with very little effort. We recently had a MS software review and the information in Lansweeper saved us dozens of hours of license and asset detail collection. It recognizes VM relationships so you can link to the host or clients quickly. Automatically associating users with assets by monitoring the last few logons means that I can search for a users system easily for helpdesk calls, etc. There are, as always, several things that could be added or improved but I love the quick one screen view of all the important details that I want about any device and the ability to drill down is awesome. I often have several windows open for different systems I am working on. We have been using Lansweeper for about 6 years now and I can't go an hour without using it.
